A New Setting
There was a lot happening visually in this home. The challenge was to bring back calm and cohesion without losing the client’s love of colour and graphic art. A light round sofa on a circular rug created a central island in the living room. Red was already an important colour in the original interior, so I kept it as a statement in two red Utrecht chairs. A separate TV area was kept tucked away. A custom made cupboard in the dining area was inspired by the client’s love of Pop Art.
In the bedroom, existing walls were extended to hide awkward roof lines and pipework, creating a central niche for the bed and bringing more calm and symmetry to the room. Two Erwin Olaf photographs that had previously hung separately in the house were brought together here, each placed in its own illuminated niche. Built in drawer units with carved wooden fronts were added below for extra storage. The bedroom was finished with more of a boutique hotel atmosphere in mind.
